Owner & Head Barber — The Monarch

Marcus trained at the Aveda Institute in Vancouver before bringing his craft to Edmonton in 2011. He opened The Monarch with a single chair and a conviction that a great haircut should feel like a ritual, not a transaction.

His approach is unhurried. He asks questions before he picks up scissors — about how you live, how you want to look walking out the door, and what you’d never want someone to say about your hair. The cut follows from there.

FAQ

Do you take walk-ins?

We accept walk-ins when a chair is open, but we can’t guarantee availability. Booking ahead is always the better call — especially Saturdays, which fill days in advance.

How far ahead should I book?

For weekdays, 2–3 days is usually enough. For Saturdays or The Full Monarch, book at least a week out. Holiday weeks fill fast — plan accordingly.

What should I do to prepare?

Come with clean, dry hair if possible. Bring a reference photo if you have something specific in mind — it’s the single most useful thing you can do. If you’re unsure, we’ll talk it through before we start.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes. Gift cards are available in-shop and by phone. They never expire and apply to any service. Call us or stop by to pick one up.

What’s your cancellation policy?

We ask for 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Same-day cancellations may carry a fee. Life happens — just give us a heads up when you can.
